W.H. Andrew Ryu

Dr. W.H. Andrew Ryu is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Neurological Surgery at Oregon Health & Science University. He graduated from the University of Toronto with an Honors Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in neurosciences. After obtaining his medical degree at Western University, he completed his neurosurgical residency at the University of Calgary and earned his board certification from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. During his training, he also earned a Master of Translational Medicine at the University of California San Francisco. Dr. Ryu completed fellowship training in complex and minimally-invasive spine surgery at Rush University.

Dr. Ryu’s clinical interests are in neurosurgery and spine surgery. He is passionate about providing cutting-edge comprehensive care for patients with spine and spinal cord disorders. Specifically, he specializes in degenerative spine disorders and spinal oncology. Dr. Ryu utilizes novel surgical and non-surgical treatments including minimally-invasive techniques to optimize the functional health and quality of life of his patients.

Dr. Ryu is actively involved in organized neurosurgery including serving as the CSNS Liaison for the AANS/CNS Joint Section on Spine and Peripheral Nerves and contributing member of the AANS/CNS Joint Section on Spine and Peripheral Nerves Research & Awards committee.
