Yi Lu, MD PhD is a spine neurosurgeon at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School. Dr. Lu is currently the Director of Neurosurgical Trauma, and Co-Director of Adult Degeneration and Scoliosis Center at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. Dr. Lu specializes in minimally invasive spine surgery, spinal deformity surgery, lateral approach spine surgery, spinal trauma and spinal tumor, etc.
In addition to spinal neurosurgery, Dr. Lu is a devoted physician scientist studying 1) molecular mechanisms of discogenic back pain and 2) central nervous system injury including spinal cord injury and traumatic brain injury.
Dr. Lu is dedicated to spinal education and advocacy for patients and spinal surgeons alike. Having served in spine section committees for many years, Dr. Lu is currently the Chair of Payor Response Committee and is dedicated to providing the payor response services for the members of the spine section. In addition, Dr. Lu serves in the AANS/CNS guideline review committee and is also the current Co-chairman of spinal cord injury section for NASS.
